CHICAGO’S POPULAR REGGAE CLUB, “WILD HARE” CLOSING MAY 15TH

It is a sad day for Chicago, as the legendary ”Wild Hare” reggae nightclub closes. Located in the historic Wrigleyville neighborhood, the popular club which opened back in 1986, will close on May 15. The current owner, musician Zeleke Gessesse has decided to leave Chicago, for greater opportunities in his native Ethiopia.  He plans to keep his legacy alive in his native country, by opening another club.

The club was known as ”the place to go for reggae” in Chicago for many years, where I have great memories of listening to incredible reggae music and dancing the night away.  On Monday Gessess said, “We will have a jamboree from May 1-15,” . “Glen Washington is in the pipeline and I’m trying to reach Ziggy Marley to come in.”

This is a true loss for our spectacular city, and the “Wild Hare” will be greatly missed.  Thanks for the memories, Zeleke.  Good luck to you!

DUKE LACROSSE ACCUSER MANGUM, NOW BEING ACCUSED OF MURDER

It seems like karma has followed a young woman many years later.  The North Carolina woman who accused three Duke University athletes of rape several years ago, is now being accused of murder.

Crystal Mangum was charged with murder on Monday, five days after her boyfriend, Reginald Daye, died from injuries he sustained when she allegedly stabbed him during a dispute. She is now facing two felony charges of larceny, in addition to his murder.

Magnum made headline news back in March 2006, when she claimed she was sexually assaulted by three players on the Duke lacrosse team.  However, North Carolina’s attorney general dropped the charges when he later found no credible evidence that the attacks occurred.  But at that point it was too late, the men’s lacrosse season was canceled and coach Mike Pressler had already resigned.

The moral to this story is, you should not lie because karma will follow you in other ways.

TAX DAY 4/18/11, HOW WILL STORMS AFFECT SUBMISSION

Today is the final day to complete your taxes in the U.S.  But with the devastating storms and twisters in many cities throughout the south, how will it affect the residents submission of tax forms?  I wonder if the government will allow an extension for the many families affected by the disaster.  What if the documentation was lost in the debris?

How tragic, hopefully they will receive a needed break.  Anyone who knows the answer, please post comment.

 

MARIAH CAREY JOINS CAST OF “X FACTOR”(video)

Simon Cowell is gearing up for his new show “X Factor”.  He has continued to hype the show leaking information on the judges to keep the excitement brewing.  Today a tweet announced Mariah Carey was confirmed as a participant on the show. She allegedly will become a “judge” of the “judges” according to eurweb. This would be a first, along with the payout of $5 million to the winner, making this a record-breaking show in multiple ways.  As a hitmaker, Mariah should be incredible!

In recent months, several stars have been rumored as potential judges; Paula Abdul, Jessica Simpson, Nicki Minaj, Cheryl Cole and Pussycat Dolls star Nicole Scherzinger. However, record industry superstar Antonio L.A. Reid is the only confirmed judge for “X Factor”.

This show proves to be exciting and unpredictable.  If Simon Cowell actually takes my advice, allowing me to represent the viewers as a special guest judge, it is sure to be a triple threat.  Come on already, call me Simon!

THREE PUPPIES REUNITED AFTER TWISTER IN NORTH CAROLINA (VIDEO)

The recent tornadoes have caused severe destruction and set a record number of twisters in the U.S.  But there has been one good story to emerge.  A young woman in North Carolina, reunited with her three puppies, found under debris after the storms.  She said they were the only thing she has left and was excited to find them unharmed.

They are the cutest little black fluffy puppies (possibly Pomeranian), and are now officially named miracle, twister and lucky.  It is always great to hear of one positive story in the midst of so much tragedy.

LONG ISLAND SERIAL KILLER STILL ON THE PREY (Video)

Many are still in fear over the missing serial killer, preying on prostitutes and “escorts” working in Long Island, New York.  Although police are still searching for the killer, some women in this dangerous profession, are continuing to put their life in jeopardy.

Hopefully he will be caught soon and maybe this will allow these women to reconsider this profession and get out.
