2012: IDOL JESSICA SANCHEZ LEADS POLLS; IS AMERICAN IDOL RIGGED?

American Idol had a close call last week with Jessica Sanchez nearly going home.  Thanks to the judges she hung on for dear life when the save was used.  But anyone watching the show, knows the save should have never been needed.  Jessica is clearly the best singer in the competition and did not come close to deserving that scare.

According to the Idol poll below, nearly 80% of the voter’s put her in first place.  So how likely is it that she received the lowest number of votes?  While I don’t want to speculate, many are shouting “foul” after the surprising announcement last week.

Do the producers create this type of situation for ratings?  Is it all done in a calculated move to receive free press and hype?  Well, we will likely never hear the true answer to this question, but it does seem to happen every year.  It could also be blamed on the lack of votes coming in because viewers “assume the favorites are safe”.  But why wouldn’t they vote for their favorite?

What do you think?  Is American Idol rigged for ratings or is this just a fluke?

On another note, American Idol Producers can forget about a lawsuit, I have no money and this is only a question…not a guilty sentence.

 

4/18/12 VIDEO: AMERICAN IDOL RECAP; PHILLIP PHILLIPS EARNS NEW FANS WITH USHER

AMERICAN IDOL is down to the wire.  All of the remaining contestants are top-notch performers, so it comes down to who can stand out most.  Well, tonight Phillip Phillips definitely had “his moment”.  Although early on he was not my top pick, he certainly earned my respect tonight with his rendition of the Usher hit song ”You Got It Bad“.  His version was fresh and unexpected, which put him ahead of the pack during the first round.

They all received two opportunities to wow the fans and judges tonight.  During round one Phillip was the clear winner, but round two went to Josh.  Celebrating the spirit of Soul Train, the classic songs were all hits so it was nearly impossible to miss. Colton sang a unique version of one of my favorite tunes, “September”, and surprisingly enough I liked it, although the judges didn’t.  Now Elise singing Marvin Gaye’s all time classic “Let’s Get It On” just did not seem to work.

After last weeks shocking announcement that Jessica Sanchez was nearly eliminated, we cannot count her out.  She nailed it tonight, singing the Alicia Keys classic “Fallen”, so she is clearly still in this game.

Colton and Hollie also sang well so this will be tough ride.  Josh is always consistent and fans continue to support Skylar and Elise, so it is still anyone’s game at this point.  It will be interesting to see who’s in the bottom three this week, but after last shows disappointing results, I’m afraid to guess.  However, if it were up to me, the bottom three would be Skylar, Elise and uhmmmmm….cannot come up with that one.

ALL I KNOW IS IF JOSH AND JESSICA DON’T MAKE THE FINALS…IT HAS TO BE RIGGED!

WILL RYAN SEACREST REPLACE DICK CLARK? NEW LEGEND IN THE MAKING…

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest offered his condolences during the shows opening tonight, in reference to the passing of Dick Clark.  He was clearly saddened by the loss of his mentor and friend, who died of a massive heart attack earlier today.

But was Seacrest being groomed to replace the legendary host?  Well, with him hosting American Idol, “E!”,  New Year’s Rockin Eve, and pretty much every other show out there it seems obvious.  Not only does he snatch up every possible gig, including a radio show, he also produces too many shows to count.  This includes; all the Kardashian series, Shahs of Sunset, It’s Complicated (Denise Richards), and dozens more.

It was a smart move on his part to take Clark’s advice litterally…own all that you can, don’t just be a host. Seacrest took a small gig as the American Idol host and ran with it all the way to the bank.  He is now said to be a mega multi-millionaire (if not a billionaire) and shows no sign of slowing down.

While he works hard for the money, his drive and success must be causing many in Hollywood to be green with envy.  Let’s face it, the guy is only 37-years-old and will probably far surpass Dick Clark when it comes to wealth.  No need to be “haters”, he has made some very intelligent and calculated moves and deserves to have it all.  I just feel sorry for all the others who would really like to secure at least one of his jobs. Unfortunately for them, he seems to leave them standing in a soup kitchen line, hoping he goes on vacation.

Will Ryan Seacrest replace Dick Clark?  Probably not exactly…but he will certainly become the next legend for the upcoming decades.  That’s life…one person leaves and another is born.

 

2012: NURSE VERNA MCCLAIN SHOOTS TEXAS MOM & ABDUCTS INFANT AT DOCTOR’S OFFICE

The shocking news of the shooting of a mom and abduction of her 3-day-old baby, has caused outrage around the world.  This is one of the most horrific crimes to hit Texas involving an infant in recent memory.

Police authorities reported that on Tuesday, 31-year-old registered nurse, Verna McClain shot and killed Kala Marie Golden as she left the doctor’s office.  A witness reported seeing a Lexus pull up next to a car and then a struggle between the two women, before McClain shot and killed the young mom.

CNN released insider information alleging the shooter had just had a miscarriage and needed a replacement.  She apparently was engaged to a man and planned to marry in May.  Since he had already been told she was pregnant, desperation set in and her plan to kidnap a baby was put in motion.

Another tragic and surprising fact is that she is already a mother of three children aged 6, 10 and 16.  It is also amazing that she believed she could pass a white baby as her own, since she is black.  Why would someone do something so horrible?  Was it post-traumatic stress syndrome or did she just snap?  Not sure, but what a complete waste of a life.

Well, she can expect to spend a lifetime behind bars, McClain is charged with capital murder in the shooting death of Kala Marie Golden.  No jury will feel sorry for such a cold-blooded killer.  The infant son, Keegan Schuchardt, was later found and will be reunited with his dad.

According to the arrest record, McClain admitted to the shooting, but the actual reason has not yet been confirmed.  Lucky for the world, she is currently being held without bail…and for good reason.

What is wrong with people?  Please tell me a man is NOT worth killing an innocent mother and stealing a baby.  Deeply saddened for the baby, dad and family of Kala.

4/18/12: LEGEND DICK CLARK DIES AT 82 OF MASSIVE HEART ATTACK; AMERICAN BANDSTAND

The legendary host and TV producer Dick Clark died today from a heart attack at the age of 82-years-old.   Best known as American Bandstand host, his charm and success created a huge following around the world for decades.

During last December’s New Year’s Eve final countdown show, while hosting alongside Ryan Seacrest, it was apparent his health was in danger.  He inspired many and will leave a long legacy for all hosts who follow.  Obviously Seacrest has positioned himself to carry the torch in his absence, learning the importance of owning your own content, from the master.

R.I.P. Dick Clark, you will be missed by your many fans…what a hard person to replace. I remember the days of American Bandstand clearly….and loved every minute of it.
