CHICAGO BEARS draft pick, Gabe Carimi, star left tackle from Wisconsin, received a positive response due to the need for a great offensive tackle.  He is a huge guy at 6’7″ and over 300 pounds, so it must be a good move for the team.

According to sports analyst on ESPN website, “his strength is in the run game, where he takes good angles to the point and works hard to finish blocks”. “These qualities make him a great fit as a right tackle at the next level”.

While I will leave the details to the sports pros, my only real contribution was my disappointment in watching the announcements.  These young players work so hard to finally get drafted, and they are booed by onlookers?  I know this is a competitive sport, but why not let these players have this special moment, with viewer support.  These drafts allow many young men to join a pro sports team, which is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.  It will be life changing for them and their families, and is already emotional enough without negative feedback.

Can’t we just be happy for them…for one day!  The competitive spirit can begin on game day right?

PLAYSTATION NETWORK announced a security breach by an unknown source this week.  They sent the below email to all users warning of the dangers of the unauthorized intruder’s. It is probably causing withdrawals for many (including myself) especially when it comes to playing popular games on-line like Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto (which I love).

According to the email posted below, Sony took precautionary measures by shutting down the network, to protect user’s.  It was sent at a great time, because I had just received an email from Hotmail requesting my personal information to avoid a shutdown.  I’m glad I ignored the request!

If you receive a request for personal information, take precautions to avoid a scam.  Everyone should own a Playstation game, it is the best out there and the games rock!

Valued PlayStation(R)Network/Qriocity Customer:

We have discovered that between April 17 and April 19, 2011,
certain PlayStation Network and Qriocity service user account
information was compromised in connection with an illegal and
unauthorized intrusion into our network. In response to this
intrusion, we have:

1) Temporarily turned off PlayStation Network and Qriocity services;

2) Engaged an outside, recognized security firm to conduct a full
and complete investigation into what happened; and

3) Quickly taken steps to enhance security and strengthen our
network infrastructure by rebuilding our system to provide you
with greater protection of your personal information.

We greatly appreciate your patience, understanding and goodwill
as we do whatever it takes to resolve these issues as quickly and
efficiently as practicable.

Although we are still investigating the details of this incident,
we believe that an unauthorized person has obtained the following
information that you provided: name, address (city, state, zip), country,
email address, birthdate, PlayStation Network/Qriocity password and login,
and handle/PSN online ID. It is also possible that your profile data,
including purchase history and billing address (city, state, zip),
and your PlayStation Network/Qriocity password security answers may
have been obtained. If you have authorized a sub-account for your
dependent, the same data with respect to your dependent may have
been obtained. While there is no evidence at this time that credit
card data was taken, we cannot rule out the possibility. If you have
provided your credit card data through PlayStation Network or Qriocity,
out of an abundance of caution we are advising you that your credit
card number (excluding security code) and expiration date may have
been obtained.

For your security, we encourage you to be especially aware of email,
telephone and postal mail scams that ask for personal or sensitive
information. Sony will not contact you in any way, including by email,
asking for your credit card number, social security number or other
personally identifiable information. If you are asked for this information,
you can be confident Sony is not the entity asking. When the PlayStation
Network and Qriocity services are fully restored, we strongly recommend that
you log on and change your password. Additionally, if you use your PlayStation
Network or Qriocity user name or password for other unrelated services or
accounts, we strongly recommend that you change them as well.

To protect against possible identity theft or other financial loss, we
encourage you to remain vigilant, to review your account statements and
to monitor your credit reports. We are providing the following information
for those who wish to consider it:
– U.S. residents are entitled under U.S. law to one free credit report annually
from each of the three major credit bureaus. To order your free credit report,
visit or call toll-free (877) 322-8228.

– We have also provided names and contact information for the three major U.S.
credit bureaus below. At no charge, U.S. residents can have these credit bureaus
place a “fraud alert” on your file that alerts creditors to take additional steps
to verify your identity prior to granting credit in your name. This service can
make it more difficult for someone to get credit in your name. Note, however,
that because it tells creditors to follow certain procedures to protect you,
it also may delay your ability to obtain credit while the agency verifies your
identity. As soon as one credit bureau confirms your fraud alert, the others
are notified to place fraud alerts on your file. Should you wish to place a
fraud alert, or should you have any questions regarding your credit report,
please contact any one of the agencies listed below:

Experian: 888-397-3742;; P.O. Box 9532, Allen, TX 75013
Equifax: 800-525-6285;; P.O. Box 740241, Atlanta, GA 30374-0241
TransUnion: 800-680-7289;; Fraud Victim Assistance Division,
P.O. Box 6790, Fullerton, CA 92834-6790

– You may wish to visit the website of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission at or reach the FTC at 1-877-382-4357 or 600 Pennsylvania
Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20580 for further information about how to protect
yourself from identity theft. Your state Attorney General may also have advice
on preventing identity theft, and you should report instances of known or
suspected identity theft to law enforcement, your State Attorney General,
and the FTC. For North Carolina residents, the Attorney General can be
contacted at 9001 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-9001; telephone
(877) 566-7226; or For Maryland residents, the Attorney
General can be contacted at 200 St. Paul Place, 16th Floor, Baltimore, MD 21202;
telephone: (888) 743-0023; or

We thank you for your patience as we complete our investigation of this
incident, and we regret any inconvenience. Our teams are working around the
clock on this, and services will be restored as soon as possible. Sony takes
information protection very seriously and will continue to work to ensure that
additional measures are taken to protect personally identifiable information.
Providing quality and secure entertainment services to our customers is
our utmost priority. Please contact us at 1-800-345-7669 should you have any
additional questions.

KATE & PRINCE WILLIAM will finally tie the knot tomorrow but do Chicagoans really care?  Not sure, but not one of my friends has talked about the wedding, nor do they seem to care.  While London will practically shut down, Chicago residents will still go to work, still shop at the grocery store, still take their kids to school, and go on with their daily lives.

In the end, while it’s a royal affair, American’s have bigger fish to fry.  With the recent storms, tornadoes, depressed economy, prolonged wars, and Donald Trump hounding President Obama about his birth certificate, I can bet many have better things to think about.

What do you think?  Will you watch the royal wedding?  If you do, compare it to above Princess Diana’s above wedding video.

American Idol contestant Casey Abrams, was finally bumped off tonight.  While he hung on well past the save by the judges and his short stint in the hospital, his artistic creativity was not enough to keep the fans voting. But he seemed happy and put on an over-the-top final performance. Hyping the audience by singing directly to fans in the crowd, dropping down on the stage, jumping on Scotty, and giving Haley a special serenade toward the end of the song.

Abrams has a unique sound and is clearly a very talented artist, so he is sure to go far with his singing career.  He rocked the Idol stage with energy and fresh appeal, which helped in his ability to hold on for so long.  But in the end, voter’s may have felt his edge and constant growl may have been too much.

We are certain to see him break-out in a big way with his new career in the music industry.  Wishing Casey an incredible ride!

This Wednesday a record number of tornadoes hit the South and Southeast, devastating many cities and causing a high number of deaths. Although it is very early in the tornado season, approximately 137 were reported yesterday along with 193 deaths. The rare tornadoes included incredible mile-wide twisters, which caused a path of damage.  Trees were uprooted, buildings were flattened, cars and trucks were tossed like toys. Fears were heightened, especially in many cities not typically used to having tornadoes.

The month of April has now seen 292 tornadoes which is a record high according to many news outlets. The average number of tornadoes is typically 163 for the month.  But what makes this more incredible is that there have been over 5,400 severe weather reports so far in April. On average, only about 3,300 severe weather reports are historically tallied in an entire April nationwide. This has caused many states to be declared a state of emergency.

This adds to the unusually high amount of natural disasters occurring across the globe, which make many question if this is the lead into 2012, which is a year said to see major changes on earth.

It is sad to hear about the loss of life, and tragic stories of so many families affected by this disaster.

X Factor auditions finally hit Chicago this week and 9000 hopeful contestants along with family, came out in full force.  The Sears Centre, located in Hoffman Estates, was filled with singer’s trying to win the $5 million dollar prize yesterday and today.  Having an age limit of 12-years-old and above, certainly opens the door for many who would have been written off on American Idol.

Simon Cowell sent his spies to check out the Chicago talent, so they were at least saved from his harsh critiques (for now).  But if they can squeeze by to the “real auditions”, which is the next step, they may get a taste of his British flair.  It is hard to say how many made it through to the next round, but surely a lot more cried their way back home with hopes dashed and broken hearts.

The show set to air this Fall, is certain to be exciting and a nail biter to see who will win the record millions in prize money.  And Paula Abul is reported to have joined the judges, which could make this a sure hit.  In addition, Mariah Carey is said to be signed up to “judge the judges” and L.A. Reid is confirmed as a judge.  While Cowell is running out of time, he will need to secure his final team of judges soon.

Well, we all know Simon likes to succeed, he certainly does not need the money so it is now all about ego.  I hope he rocks it, and sends some of that cash my way!
