GOOGLE announced today, they will buy Motorola Mobility for $12.5 Billion dollars. It means they are certain to become a strong competitor to Apple and others in the playing field. Hopefully this move will offer consumers more choices, and better pricing. Once the story went public, stocks shot up by 56%.
This purchase would be the largest acquisition by Google in their history, and many believe is a sure sign they will expand well beyond the Internet business.
Googlerola? Will this be the new name? Does this mean more layoffs? Typically they occur during acquisitions, let’s hope not. Or it will not be great news for the employees or the economy.
