Raw video above shows the release of dozens of foreign journalists trapped in Tripoli’s exclusive Rixos hotel. After five days of being held in a “hostage-like” situation with guns blazing, reporters were relieved to finally have their freedom back.
Some are reporting that the rebels were unaware that takeover of city was nearly over. Matthew Chance, a CNN Senior International Correspondent, said that the experience was a “nightmare” and “very frightening”.
Although they have not been released the fight is far from over. Libyan rebels continue to fight across Tripoli and Moammar Gadhafi’s whereabouts remain unknown. It was definitely a week many journalist will never forget, but it’s good to hear they were released.
Let’s see if they tough it out and stay to finish their coverage…personally, I would be on the first flight out!
