(VIDEO) 9/14/11: “AMERICA’S GOT TALENT” FINALE; UNDERDOG WINS THE MILLION

The finals of America’s Got Talent aired tonight with the most incredible contestants of the entire series.  Unlike many other shows, it came down to the last performance since the other rounds were so good.  It ended with the top four being similar in the sense that two were “dance-like” acts (Team ILuminate & Silhouette) and two were singers (PopLyfe & Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr.).

It was clear that they all wanted it badly, but with a song a bit too big the group, PopLyfe knocked themselves out of the running during their final performance.  They were the first to go and you could see their disappointment.  The next to go was Team ILuminate, which was a bit of a shocker, since they were consistently creative and innovative.  This left the remaining two brilliant and dynamic contestants Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. and Silhouette fighting it out for the million dollar prize and Vegas show.

In the end the public selected the most unlikely of them all, Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. who was more like the underdog.  Although he sang his heart out and has a great voice, many had their bets on Silhouette. But Murphy winning was incredible to watch, since his dream was to support his family after previously working at a car wash and being homeless. He should inspire many and keep the American dream alive.  Don’t we all just love a fairytale ending.  It was an amazing finale to one of their best seasons to-date.

They were all incredibly talented so no complaints on my end.  Was he your choice to win?

(VIDEO) 9/14/11: AMY WINEHOUSE & TONY BENNETT DUET RELEASED IN MEMORY OF 28TH BIRTHDAY

The family and friends of Amy Winehouse remembered her fondly today, because it would have been her 28th Birthday.  It’s unfortunate that an incredible talent died at such a young age and we will never know just how far she would have grown in the music industry.

Today was also the release of her much anticipated duet alongside legendary performer Tony Bennett.  The Body & Soul  music video was released by Bennett in memory of her Birthday.  Proceeds from the track are being donated to her foundation.  What a sad day…

(VIDEO 2011) CHICAGO BEARS BRIAN URLACHER; MOM DIES SUDDENLY WHILE SLEEPING

CHICAGO BEARS linebacker, Brian Urlacher, is in mourning today after the sudden death of his beloved mother Lavoyda. It was reported that she died unexpectedly in her sleep at the very young age of 51-years-old. He left the team today to begin preparations for funeral arrangements.

Urlacher released a statement prior to his departure; “My first priority right now is to be with my family as we mourn her loss and make the arrangements to lay her to rest,” Urlacher said. “This is a very difficult and emotional time for us and I sincerely ask that you respect our privacy.”

The Chicago Bears linebacker was just named the Defensive Player of The Week, but that is now bittersweet. Urlacher has praised his mom and they were extremely close, so it is a very sad day for him and his family.

It is still uncertain if he will play in the upcoming game in New Orleans.

2011: TARGET OFFERS MISSONI DESIGNER COLLECTION, CRASHES SERVER

TARGET found itself in a frenzy yesterday when they released the new Missoni designer collection. Hundreds of shoppers lined-up at stores around the nation and within an hour-and-a-half the shelves were cleared out.  The on-line bargain hunters also came out in full force, crashing the Target website multiple times during the day.

The Missoni collection offers designer fashions and housewares at discount prices, which obviously has a strong market.  With the weak economy and consumers watching their spending the timing was impeccable. Many shoppers were thrilled with the designs and hungry for opportunity to buy designer clothing at a fraction of the cost.

But with huge success comes a bit of backlash, complaints about the Target website crashing and sold-out items, soon flooded into customer service.  It seems as though Missoni and Target did not realize they would receive such a high response…better get to re-stocking quickly or they may cause a riot!

Target representatives were quoted as saying “It was like black Friday!”
