(VIDEO) 2011: GAY TEEN ACTIVIST RODEMEYER COMMITS SUICIDE DUE TO BULLIES; LET’S HOPE “IT GETS BETTER”

In a tragic twist, a young 14-year-old gay activist trying to break the cycle of bullies, committed suicide this week.  Jamey Rodemeyer recently posted a video on Youtube promoting the “It Gets Better” project hoping to speak out on behalf of other homosexuals being bullied. But this weekend it appeared too much to handle, so the Buffalo New York teen posted a farewell note online just before taking his own life.

Rodemeyer spoke out on Youtube about his experiences with bullies for being gay and his video was well received by supporters. This even included singing pop icon, Lady Gaga, who reached out to show she backed him 100%.  But backlash came along with the praise and this included “cyberbullies” who posted extremely disparaging comments, and now may face hate crime charges.

It is sad to hear that he felt the attacks so painful he could not bear it any longer. That his voice was not heard by the ones with a grudge.  Although there is strong debate and hatred towards many who are considered “different”, anyone could be a target for being bullied.  Maybe you are physically challenged, have weight issues, not popular with the in-crowd, are of the wrong race or ethnic group, or just don’t seem to fit in.  Before you judge anyone for any reason, it is important to remember you too could become a victim of bullies and pushed over the edge.  It is not important that you agree with a certain lifestyle, it is important that you respect others choices.  In the end “to each his own.”

Jamey Rodemeyers’ plight to educate others may not have happened in life, but maybe his message will be heard in death.  Let’s hope his tragic exit may be a lesson to all who bully others around the world.  Bullies are found in every culture, but no-one likes a bully.

R.I.P. – May the “It Gets Better” project help those in need of support.  Let’s hope it gets better.

(VIDEO) CHICAGO 2011: SNATCH & GRAB GANG HITS NAPERVILLE; POLICE WARN RESIDENTS

The City of Chicago is having serious problems with controlling violence.  It is especially intense when it comes to the recent shootings, involving innocent victims which includes small children.  But it seems crime is now also reaching surrounding suburbs, including unlikely neighborhoods.

It was reported that a smash-and-grab gang known has “The Felony Lane Gang” headed to Naperville  this week.  They move quickly and have targeted two parks, robbing victims then escaping so fast it is hard to identify them.  Police sent a warning area residents asking that they become more cautious.

CBS reported that “The Felony Lane Gang” has at least 100 members.  If you live in the city or suburbs, it is time to keep your guard up, because this seems to be getting worse.  Naperville was named “most desired place to live” for goodness sakes!

Unfortunately, this may be a sign of the times, with the lagging economy and high unemployment rates in Chicago, some may now resort to theft to survive.  Let’s hope police officials get this under control quickly, we certainly don’t want  the crime to become out-of-control, like it currently is in Mexico.

(VIDEO) 9/24/11: NASA SATELLITE PLUNGES TO EARTH; NO INJURIES REPORTED…THEY THINK?

It was reported that NASA’S 6-ton satellite finally hit earth today; nearly eight hours later than originally expected. The 35-foot satellite was the largest to fall in over 30 years.   U.S. space officials said they were unable to know exactly where it landed (goody for us!), but they believe it was likely over water and that (so far) no injuries were reported.

While it great to hear they “think” no-one was hurt by this 6-ton fiery ball,  it is scary to know it just drops from the sky with little supervision or guidance.  And what’s more surprising is that if it falls on or near you, it is illegal to keep any pieces of the debris.  Seriously?   If it landed on someone, seems like the least they could do is let them keep it!
