(VIDEO) 10/6/11: THE X-FACTOR USA RECEIVED HALF AMERICAN IDOL RATINGS, BUT DOUBLE BLOG READERS – IS IT CHRIS RENE?

06 Oct

Simon Cowells’ popular singing competition the X-Factor, just hit the U.S. with a bang.  However, many smirked at the ratings for its first week, which came in at half of American Idol’s opening figures.  Well, Simon will be happy to know that although the earlier numbers may not have been lower than expected, viewer interest is actually double (according to my ratings).  While my blog readership for American Idol was respectable, the numbers for the X-Factor is much higher, reaching double the fans.

It could have a lot to do with stand-out contestant Chris Rene, who became an instant Youtube sensation.  His video surged to 500,000 views within days and over 4 million within weeks.  It’s impossible to ignore that his fan base and support definitely has helped increase X-Factor interest.

Was it is Renes’ amazing self-produced song or his battle with drug addiction?  It’s probably a combination, since his story has inspired millions of fans, either also fighting addiction, or who know someone in the same situation.  Whatever the reason one thing is clear, while there is a lot of incredible talent on the show, his blogs receive more hits than any other contestant.  Let’s hope we can now inspire our “Young Homie” to stay on track and go far in the competition.

Maybe X-Factor will return the favor and help Rene get closer to the 5 million dollar prize!  Let’s also hope the show gets picked up for another season…it has my attention.

Who is your favorite contestant?  Is Chris Rene your reason for watching?

INTEREST RATES DROP TO ALL TIME LOW…read more here.
