Protests continued in Chicago well into the night at Congress Plaza. Police warned about 500 protestors to leave the park just after 1 a.m. Sunday morning. When they formed a human chain and sat on the ground, police began arresting them, stating they were violating municipal code.
Since the parks close at 11am they were hauled to jail in police trucks and CTA buses. Many of them cheered as the arrests continued and chanted “The whole world is watching!” The last arrests were finished around 3:30am as they were finally shut down. It is reported that about 175 people were arrested, but they have vowed to return to continue their protests today.
