The Republican Presidential debate got heated last night with the gloves coming out for the candidates. In particular, the spat between Herman Cain and Rick Perry caused a lot of controversy.
The fact that Perry called Cain “brother” several times during the debate is causing serious backlash in the media. While Perry claims “he meant nothing by that and is not racist”, many are taking different stance.
Seriously, we are so politically correct these days…even good intentions seem to be taken out of context. It would certainly be stupid for a candidate to actually speak in a derogatory manner during a debate. But his campaign manager should have warned him against using the phrase “brother”, since we are all so sensitive.
Are we getting out of control when it comes to “politically correctness”? I tend to believe so, “brother”.
