The Prime Minister of Italy, Silvio Berlusconi, officially resigned today. This comes a day after Italy’s lower chamber approved a series of austerity measures, to increase confidence in the country’s economy.
It’s amazing to think that the Prime Minister was able to survive numerous sexual and ethical scandals along with allegations of corruption, for 17 years and three terms. But when it came down to economics, he was pushed out. This seems unbelievable, he even did not even have major issues when a video of him picking his nose was released.
Hecklers filled the street, cheering as news spread of his resignation. It goes to show, the public will accept political figures for their indiscretions, but don’t mess with their money!
