The holiday shopping season will begin earlier than ever this year. Walmart representatives announced they will open their doors, the day before “Black Friday” at 10pm.
Historically, most major chains offer “door buster” specials at midnight, just after stuffing yourself with Thanksgiving dinner. Many stores will keep that tradition such as; Kohl’s, Best Buy, Macy’s and Target who have decided to stick with the midnight opening.
Consumers can expect to see huge discounts this year and analyst anticipate electronics will have sharp reductions. If you are thinking about layaway, watch above video. It may be an option, but keep in mind you pay more for the item and there are some restrictions.
It will be interesting to see how this new strategy impacts overall spending and the other store’s bottom-line. If shoppers get to Walmart first and spend a lot of their budget there, will they have less to drop at the competition? Only time will tell.
It seems like a good idea…but will we soon see holiday shopping beginning in June?
