Is the recession officially over? Well, according to the shopping stats out today, for holiday shopper’s, it would seem so. The stock market rallied today as figures were released showing a 16% increase in “Black Friday” sales over last year.
Adding to this optimism is the announcement that on-line shopping is expected to break a record today, possibly reaching $1 billion in sales. “Cyber Monday” is when shopper’s add to their lists, by purchasing products during their work hours:).
It’s not clear if this shows consumer confidence is up because the recession is over, or if they are just tired of feeling down and went on a shopping spree! Whatever the case, it is good news for the U.S. economy (until the bills come due).
Now when will they begin adding a new home to their holiday shopping list? Keep the momentum going!
