Today during a City of Chicago meeting, Catholic Nun Sister Rosemary Connelly, lashed out at the New Mayor Rahm Emanuel. After using a tastefully trashy joke (which I can’t even repeat!) to break the ice, she got her message across regarding the new law, which requires non-for-profit groups to now pay for city water.
Sister Connelly expressed her concerns over the charity Misercodia going from a water bill of zero, to over $300,000 per year. In his apparent feelings of guilt, Mayor Emanuel promised to support the charity with a hefty donation from his own personal charity fund.
This is a good point, how will the already struggling non-for-profits cover the cost of water in the upcoming year? While some charities have the luxury of huge private donations, others are not so fortunate. Will Mayor Rahm Emanuel donate to them all?
