If you are like millions of others and dream about winning the Powerball jackpot, it’s going to cost you more come January 15, 2012. Lottery officials announced that the cost of the popular game will double in price from $1 to $2 per ticket.
While some are not happy about this move, Lottery officials claim your odds of winning and the jackpot amount will increase. The number selections will drop from 39 to 35 and the starting jackpot will go from $20 to $40 million. They believe the larger stake will entice more to play and should not affect the amount purchased by lottery fans.
So as you dream about what you will do with all that money, start planning to set aside more cash to reach this fantasy. The question is…will more people play less making it a wash? Weigh in below and share your thoughts.
