2012: KANSAS MEGA MILLION WINNER REMAINS ANONYMOUS, $656M JACKPOT

BALTIMORE LOTTERY WINNERS STEP FORWARD…EDUCATORS ALSO WIN!

The largest Mega Million jackpot in history reached $656M and three lucky winners selected all numbers.  They came from three states including; Illinois, Maryland and Kansas.  None of the winners stepped forward until now…but we are still in the dark as to who they are.  Lottery officials had a party celebrating the lump sum payout of $218 million to the Kansas ticket holder, but they had to use a cutout poster board with a smiley face as the claimant.

Apparently the extremely smart winner would like to stay anonymous, so lottery officials are not releasing any information about their age, gender, or hometown.  They are obviously lucky in more than one way…Kansas law allows them to take their winnings privately unlike some other states.

Could you blame them?  Winning all that money and sharing this information with the world, probably is not a good idea.  Everyone from long-lost family members to people with sob stories would stand in line for a hand-out.  It is probably the smartest decision they could make during this incredibly exciting time.  It certainly had to be a tough thing to do…they would love to scream out to the world “I WON!  I WON!”  But a practical attorney had to have given them words of wisdom…”You may want to keep this to yourself”.

If you won the Lottery would you share the news with the world, just family and close friends, or keep it a secret?  For me it would be hard to hide…since the new car, house, lavish trips and private donations to my friends and family would be challenging to shrug off.  “Uhm…I’m not sure why you received that $50k check?”

2012: CBS NEWS JOURNALIST MIKE WALLACE DIES AT 93 YRS OLD; 60 MINUTES LEGEND

Popular and iconic CBS news Journalist Mike Wallace died Saturday night at the age of 93-year-old.  It was less than a month shy of his upcoming Birthday.  Networks report he passed away peacefully with family surrounding him at a home care facility in New Canaan, Conn.

His tough interview style drew fans across the globe but also caused him trouble with lawsuits and critics who challenged his reports.  Wallace was in the spotlight over 50-years, with a long stint at CBS news even helping to create the historic news show 60-Minutes , back in 1968.  It became the longest running news show in history and holds records for the top spots in the ratings books for decades.

Most knew him as Mike Wallace but he was actually born Myron Wallace in Brookline Massachusetts, on May 9, 1918.  Lucky for us, he began his news career in Chicago in the 1940′s.  Originally he was a radio news writer for the Chicago Sun and then a news reporter for WMAQ.  But amazingly enough, he joined CBS in 1951.  When will anyone in our generation stick with a company that long in the future?  Never….

Mike Wallace was an incredible journalist and was compelling with his delivery.  I loved watching him, he made news exciting and kept me glued to 60-minutes.  CHECK OUT THIS OLD VIDEO FOOTAGE, it is his report on a “taboo” topic, especially back in the 60′s.

R.I.P. Mr. Wallace…your legendary news reporting will be remembered forever.
