2012: BRITNEY SPEARS X FACTOR JUDGE; IS 15 MILLION TOO MUCH?

12 Apr

Rumor has it, pop singer Britney Spears may be joining Simon Cowell as a judge on X Factor.  The “come back” kid is reportedly in talks with Cowell, for a big payday of $15 million a season.

Since Cowell gave Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger the boot after the first season, he has scrambled for a replacement.  Originally he approached Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, but when they obviously were not available, desperation set in.  This opened the door for Spears to likely earn a bigger check than she is worth.

X Factor has the potential of earning millions, but with the lower than expected ratings, this comes as a surprise to many.  Did Simon fire the original judges too soon?  It may have left him in a better negotiating situation had he gave them more time to settle in.

The singing competition failed to generate the ratings of American Idol during its premiere season, but does he really believe Spears is the answer.  Well, only time will tell if she is a big enough name to boost his shows viewership and ego.

But what I can’t understand is my offer to become a judge would have cost him a lot less.  “Hey Simon”, why didn’t you call?  When host Steve Jones was first on the chopping block I gave him the opportunity to reach out for a reasonable replacement.  Seriously, Simon pick up the phone and call…an unknown fan being a judge would definitely help your ratings, and at a bargain!
