In a tragic accident 11-year-old Jordan Oliver drowned in a pond behind her school this week. The student at Pioneer Elementary School in Bolingbrook was unable to be revived after jumping in a pond at Indian Chase Meadows, while playing with friends. She was pronounced deceased when arriving to Adventist Hospital.
After rumors of the reason behind her death surfaced, her dad called a press conference. Jamal Oliver pleaded for the speculation to end and for residents to just remember his daughter as she lived. With Jordan being his youngest child, the pain he feels is understandable and her memory should be respected.
Grief counselors visited schools to help students cope with the loss. Imagine her six friends who witnessed her tragic death. There were even reports that one of them actually tried to save her life. What a horrific experience for such young children to have to deal with.
No parent should have to experience losing a child. The parents and siblings will have a long road ahead of them, so hopefully his wishes will be considered. My heart goes out to the family and may Jordan rest in peace.
