The first season of the new singing competition ‘Duets named its winner tonight.  It was no big surprise that front-runner J Rome ran away with the prize.  While up against other two finalists, John Glosson and Jason Farol this was essentially a slam dunk for him. Jason was eliminated first then it was down to J Rome and Glosson…duh!

J Rome was the clear winner from the start and topped the charts for the entire season.  Leaving the others in the dust they could have ended the show and crowned him winner on day one.  His singing ability is by far the best of any singer on any of the singing competition shows on television.  It also helped that he was teamed up with the best judge who is incredible on all levels.  Jennifer Nettles (of Sugarland) may have offered him an edge, but he clearly earned the win with his amazing voice.

Although the judges, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Robin Thicke and Jennifer Nettle are extremely talented, and work hard for the money, the show just seems like a dud.  How can I tell?  Well, of all the other similar shows their blogs have the fewest views.  Who’s watching?  My guess is not too many…at least as far as I can tell.

It seemed like the show may have had promise early on, but somehow watching two people singing multiple times together gets a bit old.  The novice of the competitor’s singing with their idol was great to watch at first, but as the weeks passed my fast forward button was hit more and more.

Well, not sure how great the ratings were for ‘Duets’, but without J Rome it may not be set on my Tivo come next year.   He really was the only reason I watched…along with Jennifer Nettle they stole the show.  No disrespect to the other judges, they obviously can sing, but just not good enough for me to tune in again.

What do you think?  Is “Duets” a hit or miss?
