The new release of Batman, The Dark Night Rises, attracted many fans during a midnight preview, but it also included a shooter. Reports of a mass shooting in Aurora, Colorado has left police and viewers baffled. After 24-year-old suspect, James Holmes, propped open a door, he allegedly rushed into the theatre, shooting at the crowd. Unfortunately, 12 people were left dead and 71 were injured including a 3-month-old infant. Many of the victims are listed in critical condition.
Police have the young man in custody but are still investigating what made the gunman open fire in the theatre, shoot wildly into the audience. Witnesses told reporter’s it was mass chaos when the suspect tossed a gas can toward them and began shooting. Hundreds of women and children began screaming and running in terror as the man went on a rampage.
The shooting happened in Aurora, Colorado, at the Century Theatres during the late night premier. Police authorities searched the mans home for evidence soon after his arrest in the parking lot. Some claim he was wearing riot gear, including; goggles, a bullet proof vest, helmet, and used a shotgun and other weapons.
What an awful experience for the movie goers…how will they ever want to go to a theatre again? The Paris red carpet premier was even canceled after the shooting as announced. The highly anticipated movie may have just lost its chance to break worldwide records, due to many cancellations after this news.
