Anyone who likes to laugh absolutely loved legendary comedian Phyllis Diller. Sadly enough, it was just reported that she died today, at the age of 95.
Diller secured her role as a top comedian during her first gig when she appeared as a stand-up at The Purple Onion on March 7, 1955 and remained there for 87 straight weeks. This was the start of her huge fan base and fame around the world.
Many believe she was one of the funniest women to hit the comedy circuit (including myself). And she definitely opened the door for many female comedian’s along the way. Before some of the greats including; Joan Rivers, Ellen DeGeneres, Whoppi Goldberg, Tina Fey, and Lili Tomlin there was Phyllis. Her quick delivery and immaculate timing put her on top in the early 50’s and her fans are still laughing to this day.
R.I.P. MS. DILLER YOU WILL BE REMEMBERED FOREVER…AS WE CONTINUE TO LAUGH IN YOUR HONOR (July 17, 1917 – August 20, 2012). Man was she funny!!!
