CNN is reporting that the Chicago teachers strike is almost over. Final talks are in session and although thousands are still protesting in the loop, it seems they are close to a deal. Chicago Public Schools and the teachers union have reportedly reached a tentative agreement, after the one week strike.
If all goes well, about 800 teacher’s will vote on Sunday to approve the new contract and 350,000 students will return to school on Monday. Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis believes it will end this weekend, after union House of Delegates review details and vote.
Many parents are hopeful this strike will end quickly and they can resume their normal routine. This is always tough on teachers, parents and students but who can blame the them for fighting for their rights?
