The late Rodney King was well-known for his powerful statement, “Can’t we all just get along?” This obviously does not hold true for rappers Rick Ross and Young Jeezy…because reports are surfacing about a backstage fight at the BET Hip Hop Awards taping tonight.
Early reports suggest the rappers got into a feud at the award ceremony. Shortly after, part of their entourage left the building, when shots were allegedly fired by members of the Rick Ross posse. While it is still being investigated and the full story has not yet unraveled, it is disturbing news.
With the heightened gun violence in Chicago it is upsetting to hear of celebrities joining in the madness. It is already a challenge preventing gang wars, senseless shootings and the loss of innocent young lives. There is no reason for anyone who left the gang infested slums to take the ghetto with them. A Rapper who makes it out and finds success, should leave the streets behind. Where are our role models for young teens?
If you have all that fame and fortune…what the hell do you have to fight about? Why not kick back and enjoy the life of luxury and success.
The BET Hip Hop Awards are being taped tonight, but will air next month. More details are sure to surface, but where there is fire…smoke usually follows.
On another note; when was the last time you heard of shots fired at the Grammy’s?
