11/7/12 VIDEO: THE X FACTOR USA RECAP; LIVE SHOW BRINGS BACK A CONTESTANT; WHO GOES HOME?

07 Nov

The X Factor live show was hot tonight!  It started with the judges bringing back contestant Diamond White After originally being eliminated, they felt she deserved to be there so it suddenly went from 12 to 13 contestants.  While she is a great singer, I would have also liked to see David Correy come back..what a huge loss.  L.A. Reid should have gotten rid of Jason Brock instead, he is more broadway than a pop singer.

They all seem to want it more than ever this year.  It may be a sign of desperate times for many of the contestants. It was interesting to hear how many of them are a true example of what a lot of American’s are feeling in this tough economy.  The group Emblem 3 shared the fact that their family was evicted just before the show due to hard times.  Beatrice Miller also had family troubles with job loss and challenging times.  Vino has no home to go back to because he sings on the road for the Military…how honorable.

It will be a tough season to judge, because they all are truly amazing and hungry for a win.  I really liked all the performances tonight, however, the best were Beatrice, Vino, Emblem 3, Carly Rose Sonenclar and Tate Stevens.  But Diamond also did prove she deserved a second chance, flawlessly belting out a Whitney Houston classic.

The worst vocals of the night was given by CeCe Fry, who sounded completely off.  Simon Cowell actually got it right when saying it was the wrong song choice. It would be shocking if she makes it to the next round.

In my opinion, the front runner’s as of now are Tate Stevens, Vino, Emblem 3, and Beatrice.  But if I were to bet on it…my money would be on Carly Rose Sonenclar, she is my favorite and a true super star.  And let’s not forget the most talented group of women ever on a show (1432 to Lylas now Fifth Harmony) they rocked it once again …but just need to stick with a name.

On a positive note, this show is a great way to open the door for someone who clearly needs a break.  Winning a 5 million contract would definitely change one contestants life, which is great to see. It would be even better if they would offer them all  just a slice of the pie for making it this far.

On a negative note, the show still needs some adjustments.  There is obviously no need for two judges so one of them needs to go.  While I love Khole Kardashian-Odom and Mario Lopez they have absolutely no chemistry.  It just looks like they are in each others way.  In my opinion neither have shined enough to choose so either could go at this point.

Another painful fact is that the ladies need a wardrobe adjustment. Demi Lovato is either dressed like an old lady or goes to the extreme of just plain tacky. The blue leather dress worn by Khole recently looked awful, and Britney Spears has no style.  Unfortunately, their lack of coordination has trickled down to some of the contestants.  Some actually look far worse after their “makeovers”, including Paige Thomas and CeCe Fry. This is where the stylish and very polished judges like Paula Abdul and Jennifer Lopez are greatly missed.

Overall the show still blows away “The Voice” and the judges have coached them to perform as though they are giving a real concert.  Wonder who will go home?  Not sure just yet, but hopefully none of my favorites.

Who do you think will win?  What is your favorite show…The X Factor or The Voice?

I stuck mostly with The Voice tonight (as will probably most Neilsen familes… I say Voice #1 Xfactor 6 or 7th). I just got irritated with some of the judges decisions, and felt that The Voice was more honest. Chicago Fire though was REALLY hot tonight… right after the voice.

My DVR got hot so missed The Voice…those judges annoy me most of the time so it’s a show I love to hate!:) Like the contestants and it does seem to be trending on Twitter unlike X Factor. Looks like you may be right Tom!

I probably would have done better, but forgot Modern Family was also on last night lol. They’re head to head again tonight, should be the same result. But what bothers me is that without The Voice competition Xfactor usually does quite well, but Glee follows it, so it will also suffer in the ratings tonight.

As you alluded to (about Trending on Twitter), I find the number of tweets a show gets with it’s hash tag, pretty much also predicts the overnight ratings. I figure the networks, producers and directors noticed that a long time ago. I’ve noticed that if enough Twitter folks are being negative (on live shows) about an aspect, that “aspect” usually stops after the next commercial break.

Even with a much smaller “universe,” I find that Twitter has a much bigger influence on “what” and “how” we see things on TV, than does Facebook.
