WARNING ABOVE VIDEO HAS PROFANE LANGUAGE
CHRIS BROWN cannot seem to get a break. He has tried hard to put his Rihanna battery incident behind him for years, but it continues to be a thorn in his side. During the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, Twitter heated up with a nasty exchange between him and comedian Jenny Johnson. She apparently began harassing him with negative jokes about him via twitter, but he was not laughing.
The exchange began with this;
Chris Brown: “I look old as %@%#! I’m only 23 …”
Johnson: “I know! Being a worthless piece of @%&# can really age a person.” (Brown was arrested in 2009 for beating up his then-girlfriend Rihanna. The two have since been rumored to be back together.)
Chris ended his outburst with; “Just ask Rihanna if she mad??????”
The exchange got nasty and he continued to send her extremely vulgar tweets. He later deleted them along with his twitter account when they became a hot topic. Of course it was too late and his nearly 4 million follower’s responded in various ways. Apparently a lot of them were so angered by Johnson’s tweets that she began getting death threats.
Johnson is refusing all interviews, but was compelled to send a statement to GQ. She went on to say; “I didn’t want attention from all of this. If I wanted attention, I would have accepted all the invitations to be on shows and to actually give exclusive interviews, but I declined all of them”.
While the abuse of Rihanna by Brown is absolutely not condoned….shouldn’t he get another chance? He is a young man who made a major mistake, but is it unforgivable? Brown got help for his temper and has tried to break the chain of abuse in his family. It is a known fact that what children experience at a young age, typically gets passed along through generations. At least it has not happened again and he seems sincerely sorry.
At some point this topic must fade and he must be allowed to move on. If not, it will only fuel the rage inside him and he will continue to lash out. In the case of allegations of abuse by many other celebrities such as Ike Turner, Ozzie Osbourne, Mel Gibson, Mike Tyson, Sean Penn, and Tommy Lee they were given a second chance. Why not let a young man pay his dues….and move on with his life. Is it because we actually saw the photo of Rihanna?
It was reported that Chris was actually with Rihanna on a short holiday retreat during this madness. If she can forgive him why can’t the world? And this is the third time Chris has deleted his Twitter account…which may be a good idea.
It is sad to think that all his talent will be overshadowed by this one foolish act, during his lifetime. This is a good example for young adults…be careful what you do in your youth or you will live to regret it.
On another note; celebrities should learn to keep their private business private. Let your publicist post your tweets and pick up a phone to handle disputes. With the world of social media, your life is fully exposed if you are not careful.
Glad my name is NOT Jenny Johnson…can you imagine having a similar named twitter account. UGHHHHH!!!
