Today the worst has happened again.  Another school shooting was just reported at Sandy Hook Elementary, in Newtown, Connecticut.  It occurred at about 9:40 in the morning today and is the deadliest school shooting in U.S. history.

CNN is gathering the full story, but as of now, the Principal is said to have heard 100 shots fired.  The shooter was found dead in a classroom and multiple fatalities have been reported.  Unfortunately, 20 children are included in the deceased.  Two guns were retrieved at the scene and 27 are confirmed dead, including the  principal.

The school holds about 400 hundred students and is in a small close-knit community.  Students and faculty ran away from the building screaming in terror and parents headed to the school in search for their children.  The hospital that victims were taken, has been locked down along with area schools.

While details are still trickling out, one thing’s for certain…a school shooting is always horrific.  Who would want to harm innocent children?  What sick reason could there be to carry out such a horrible act?  Not sure, but it seems to happen in small quaint towns more than we would like to hear.

This is a scary thing for parents and children to have happen, especially at this joyous time of the year.  It will hold firm in their minds for year’s to come and will change them forever.  Sad that kids cannot feel safe at school…unbelievable.

Has society lost their minds?  Is this holiday season really getting to people…or is the drug epidemic out of control?  The updates continue to change and the news seems to keep getting worse.  What a sad way for the families, surviving children, parents and teachers to remember Christmas.

Why did he do it?  That’s still unclear, but new updates suggest he also killed his mom and brother before the mass shooting.

R.I.P. to the innocent children lost…their families & friends.  And to the survivor’s who will have to live on with this awful memory…stay strong and support one another.  You are in our thoughts.

On another note; Illinois just received a court ruling, which approved carrying a concealed weapon is justified due to the 2nd Amendment.  Right to bear arms is crap in today’s society! Just what we need…more lunatics carrying a gun.  Have they also lost their minds!

UPDATE: as of 1pm:  Shooter was 20-years-old Adam Lanza and one of his parents was just found shot dead in New Jersey.

There are no excuses why people act the way they do. In my opinion, in the psychology field should be a millionaire because there are a lot of people need help today in various ways: living in recession, drugs, and no love from their families.

Yes extremely horrific. Of course we won’t know WHY until all details are released, but I don’t think it’s the Holiday season, or drugs. I think bullying, peer pressure, and the extreme pace of society in general.

They think it may be a parent…not sure why but they clearly were insane!

I strongly agree with you, the society in general. I believe we need better laws that fit the society today in 2012 and not 1776.

Agreed…the RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS is ridiculous in today’s society. lt’s plain stupid

I agree, guns are the number one in all yeses young children deaths. A lot of teenager are gone because of the guns. A bullet went through my house this past summer, so I know they are dangerous and I feel only cops should have guns. Even though, some of them are careless with they weapon.

I am very sensitive on bad news but this kind makes me cry, but my heart goes out to the parents, children, and teachers.

Phyllis, I too have shed tears on this too. I don’t know how the survivors can deal with it, prayers and positives thoughts to all of them.
