The New Year started with a bang…literally. During a fireworks gathering in Old Sacramento, California a gunman fired shots into a crowd of nearly 40,000 people. It happened around 9pm on New Year’s Eve and left two dead and three injured.
Reports suggest shots rang out after a fight ensued at a local restaurant called the Sports Corner Cafe. The shooter ran into the street wielding a gun an let rip into the stunned crowd of onlookers.
Unfortunately, two innocent bystander’s lost their lives in another senseless shooting. A witness told reporter’s “I saw the gun in the hand. He was just screaming and shooting.” Thousands ran for cover in terror and the search was on for the shooter. Police eventually caught the identified man, who was quickly arrested.
What’s surprising is the thousands of parents who brought their young children out that late to watch the show. While it’s sad that you can’t bring your kids to see the sky light up these days, it’s just not a good idea. Danger lurks around us and nothing good seems to happen at night.
This is a tragic way to begin the New Year….and yet another reason to revisit gun control laws. Should average citizens have such easy access to guns? Absolutely not!
How many more need to die before they take gun control seriously? They can stop us from buying large sugary drinks…but can’t enforce tighter restrictions on weapons. What’s wrong with these politicians? Oh that’s right…it is all about money.
