The popular saying goes “Don’t drink and drive“. But after this incident, we should also add “Don’t drink and fly“. During a recent flight on Icelandair Intercontinental to JFK, passengers were forced to use a roll of duct tape to restrain an unruly passenger.
CNN reported that a man was highly intoxicated and began screaming “the plane is going to crash!” He then attacked a woman and the crew, spit and ranted, so fellow passengers duct taped him to his seat. It apparently worked and he appears to have passed out until landing.
Obviously, the moral to the story is limit your drinks when flying. Personally, I never understood why they would serve passenger’s alcohol on a flight anyway. If it did crash…how could anyone possibly survive if they’re drunk?
Unfortunately, this is not the first time it has happened. Back in 2008 another airline crew used a similar technique on this woman. Talk about a wild airplane ride…that’s why I prefer driving.
On another note; the photo went viral…and the man started the New Year on the wrong foot! Maybe this picture will go on his holiday card next year. How embarrassing!
