Everyone dreams of winning the lottery. We think of all the trips we can take, bills we can pay off, family members we can help, and luxury items we can buy. It is supposed to be a joyous occasion and the start of an exciting journey. Unfortunately, the Chicago lottery winner, 46-year-old Urooj Khan, found out it can also cause death.
Khan won the lottery last summer with an instant lottery ticket and looked excited on the photo circulating the internet. However just after claiming his $1 million dollar prize and a day after collecting his $425,000 in winnings, he was found dead. At first the medical examiner ruled his death was caused by natural causes. But seriously, how likely is that It was a good thing his family member found this suspect as well. They called the police and insisted they dig deeper. No big surprise…they found he was actually poisoned with cyanide.
The medical examiner announced today, they will exhume his body to investigate further, after reclassifying the cause. In the event the case goes to court, they will need more evidence to convict the culprit. His second wife was allegedly suspected by his brother and other family members, so police questioned her and it is still under investigation.
This is something to think about the next time you consider what you will do if you win. Obviously, you now need to worry about who will put a hit on your life, so they can inherit the cash. This has to be an inside job, really no one else would benefit from his death. Sad that money causes some people to become greedy and ruthless.
Maybe I will leave the country when I win the lottery!
