(VIDEO) 2013: AMERICAN IDOL STARTS JAN 16TH & 17TH; NICKI MINAJ & MARIAH CAREY FEUD BEGINS

The new season of American Idol begins on January 16th & 17th. It’s amazing to think this is the 12th season of a successful run.  During the past few years there have been many changes, but this year the new judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey should shake things up. As of today, Nicki has over 15 million Twitter follower’s and Mariah has about 8 million.   Let the feuds begin!

While early rumors of Randy Jackson leaving fizzled, he will be joined by another male to balance the judging panel. Country star Keith Urban will work with Randy to keep the women from an out right brawl on live television.  But with the cat fights starting early during auditions, this may be a challenge to avoid.  Of course Ryan Seacrest will also be there to hold down the fort.

It is likely the producers are excited that the controversy has received so much press.  Who would miss this season with the chance of an on-air feud between a pop diva and a raw “pop rap” star?  Not me!  I will definitely tune in to see if they are on their best behavior.

The show has created a long list of singing sensations, including Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Clay Aiken, Fantasia Barrino, David Cook, Scotty McCreery, Jordan Sparks, Phillip Phillips, Kris Allen, Ruben Studdard, Tayor Hicks, Lee DeWyze, Melaine Amaro, and Oscar & Grammy Award winner Jennifer Hudson.  Let’s see who they will introduce to the world this year.  It’s obvious you don’t need to win it all to become a star.

This should be a wild ride, and I’m excited to see how it all unfolds.  It will be interesting to see who will root for Mariah and who will back Nicki.  Let’s just hope they don’t overshadow the contestants….isn’t this supposed to be a singing competition?  Or will it be “Judge Wars!”

On another note; why can’t pop diva’s just get along?  While egos get huge at this level of success, they should just be grateful they made it that far and count their blessings. Girl power is not reflected by this unnecessary fighting…young girls need role models.  So hoping they keep their attitudes in check this season. Come on ladies…please behave! (sort of:)
