[VIDEO] 2013: SUPER BOWL RECORD BETS AT $98 MILLION; OVER 108 MILLION TUNED IN; BEYONCE CAUSES POWER OUTAGE

04 Feb

This year’s Super Bowl set a record for bets…over $98 million exchanged hands. Nevada claims gambling rose to a record $98.9 million when the Baltimore Ravens upset the San Francisco 49ers.  It was also the third highest Neilson ratings on record; with over 108.4 million tuning in.

Viewer spike may have something to do with the lip syncing controversy surrounding the half-time show performer Beyoncé Knowles.  Turns out she was so hot and electrifying many say she was the cause of the power outage.  But it could have also been the duel between head coaches who are brothers; Jim and John Harbaugh.

Well, it looks like whopping $3.8 demanded per 30 second commercial was worth the money spent. There were 230,000 tweets per minute, during the outage so the overall game was the talk of the internet.  At least the 34 minute blackout did not happen while Beyoncé performed.

Best tweet of the night came from Joe Schmidt who tweeted; “if you liked it, you should’ve put a backup generator on it.”  Now that is funny!

The Ravens won 34-31….but Beyoncé was the true winner.  It also appears the Budweiser ad with the Clydesdale horse topped the list for favorite commercial.  The top Super Bowl commercials can be found here.

Sorry, Beyonce had her own power generators for her performance. LOVE that Budwiser ad, brought tears to my eyes.
