[VIDEO] 2012 OLYMPIC HERO OSCAR PISTORIUS CHARGED WITH MURDER…BLADE RUNNER SHOOTS GIRLFRIEND

14 Feb

Many waking up today are shocked to hear about the arrest of an Olympic hero for an overnight murder. The Paralympic champion and Gold medalist, Oscar Pistorius, known as “Blade Runner”, was praised for his bold move to compete in last years London Olympics.  He made sporting history for being the first double amputee Olympic sprinter, but now he is in the spotlight for a totally different reason.

According to South African police, he allegedly shot his girlfriend on Wednesday night during a heated argument.  Neighbors in his hometown of Pretoria East, South Africa say they heard loud voices then shots fired.  Model Reeva Steenkamp, died from 4 gunshot wounds as paramedics tried to revive her at the scene.

It is a surprising turn of events, since just last year I also found myself rooting for him to win.  His determination was infectious and other competitors praised him throughout the event. What a sad way to end up just as he became a hero to many around the world.

Pistorius was arrested shortly after the crime and is in police custody.  Some also speculate that he accidentally shot her after she surprised him for Valentine’s Day.  Details are still unfolding.

All I can say is…tragic.  What a horrific start to Valentine’s Day.

Sooooo sad. The walls in my office at work are loaded with various pictures (cut out of magazines, papers, etc.), my favorite is the one of Oscar and his pet Cheetah (fastest animal on Earth). Oscar was a hero to me, for many reasons. It’s really hurtful to see our heros fall.

It was great to see him taking part in the 2012 London Olympics, becoming a rolemodel for millions of people around the world, but it seems that he’s losing everything that he as worked for. What a shame…
