WARNING: ABOVE VIDEO CONTAINS FOUL LANGUAGE – DO NOT LISTEN IF YOU NEVER HEARD THE “F” WORD!
The Chicago Blackhawks win of the Stanley Cup in 2013 brought joy and excitement to local fans. It was made clear during the celebration rally held on Friday 6/28/13, where millions attended. But one of my loyal blog readers (Tom:) shared the sentiment of many Chicagoan’s with a special message of pride.
While Goalie Corey Crawford’s’ speech was filled with foul language during the victory rally…his emotions just may have taken over. This did not seem to offend the large crowd nor the fan who forwarded his heartfelt message.
I received the below email and thought it was worth sharing with readers who likely feel the same way. While some may say, “it’s just a game”, it truly brings more meaning this year. Chicago has continued to receive bad press for its heightened violence and we finally had a positive boost!
GREAT JOB BLACKHAWKS! Check out their ad in the Boston Globe below…classy!
A MESSAGE FROM TOM….TRUE BLACKHAWKS FAN AND CHICAGO LOVER! (Thanks for sharing:)
Yesterday (6/28/13) the Blackhawks took out a full-page ad in the Boston Globe, as seen below (or click the link if you don’t see the picture). Made me proud to be a Chicagoan and a Blackhawks fan.
The parade and rally yesterday was attended by over 2 million people. One would expect many arrests to be made in such a large crowd… only 5 arrests were made, 4 misdemeanors and 1 felony. If you are interested in the full story of the event you can go to www.suntimes.com or www.chicagotribune.com. The “highlight” of the day was Goalie Corey Crawford’s speech after being given the “honorary award” for MVP of the NHL, by the actual MVP of the final winning game Patrick Kane. Crawford said is thanks, and added “of course it was a team effort, these guys worked their f#@%$’ nuts off to get here.” WBBM radio cut the feed right after the remark, but the NBC TV affiliate just kept going on, and actually joked about the remark. It’ll be interesting to see what the FCC has to say, as they have recently lightened up on fleeting expletives (such as Bono’s remark at the Grammy’s).
I’ve now been alive for 3 of the 5 Stanley Cup wins for the Blackhawks.
