[CRAWFORD VIDEO] 2013: CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS WIN STANLEY CUP….MAKES FANS PROUD!

[CRAWFORD VIDEO] 2013: CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS WIN STANLEY CUP….MAKES FANS PROUD!

WARNING: ABOVE VIDEO CONTAINS FOUL LANGUAGE – DO NOT LISTEN IF YOU NEVER HEARD THE “F” WORD!

The Chicago Blackhawks win of the Stanley Cup in 2013 brought joy and excitement to local fans.  It was made clear during the celebration rally held on Friday 6/28/13, where millions attended.   But one of my loyal blog readers (Tom:) shared the sentiment of many Chicagoan’s with a special message of pride.

While Goalie Corey Crawford’s’ speech was filled with foul language during the victory rally…his emotions just may have taken over.  This did not seem to offend the large crowd nor the fan who forwarded his heartfelt message.

I received the below email and thought it was worth sharing with readers who likely feel the same way.  While some may say, “it’s just a game”, it truly brings more meaning this year.  Chicago has continued to receive bad press for its heightened violence and we finally had a positive boost!

GREAT JOB BLACKHAWKS!  Check out their ad in the Boston Globe below…classy!

A MESSAGE FROM TOM….TRUE BLACKHAWKS FAN AND CHICAGO LOVER! (Thanks for sharing:)

Yesterday (6/28/13) the Blackhawks took out a full-page ad in the Boston Globe, as seen below (or click the link if you don’t see the picture).  Made me proud to be a Chicagoan and a Blackhawks fan.

The parade and rally yesterday was attended by over 2 million people.  One would expect many arrests to be made in such a large crowd… only 5 arrests were made, 4 misdemeanors and 1 felony.  If you are interested in the full story of the event you can go to www.suntimes.com or www.chicagotribune.com. The “highlight” of the day was Goalie Corey Crawford’s speech after being given the “honorary award” for MVP of the NHL, by the actual MVP of the final winning game Patrick Kane.  Crawford said is thanks, and added “of course it was a team effort, these guys worked their f#@%$’ nuts off to get here.” WBBM radio cut the feed right after the remark, but the NBC TV affiliate just kept going on, and actually joked about the remark.  It’ll be interesting to see what the FCC has to say, as they have recently lightened up on fleeting expletives (such as Bono’s remark at the Grammy’s).

I’ve now been alive for 3 of the 5 Stanley Cup wins for the Blackhawks.

(VIDEO) 2011: CHICAGO BEARS PLAYER SAM HURD CUT AFTER DRUG ARREST

ABC NEWS VIDEO

It’s unfortunate to hear about a sports professional with so much promise, wasting a rare opportunity.  Many young men dream about playing professionally, with the potential of earning millions.  So it was a huge shock to hear that Chicago Bears wide receiver, Sam Hurd, was arrested on charges of conspiring to possess and distribute cocaine.

This past Wednesday, Hurd was arrested at a local Chicago restaurant, after accepting cocaine from an undercover U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent.  Once charged, Authorities announced that he was in the process of setting up a drug distribution network in Chicago.  Even more surprising is that he was planning to become a “big time” drug dealer.  He allegedly was in trying to get a supplier to sell him hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of cocaine and marijuana weekly, to distribute and add to our already heightened drug problem.

Hurd was already under investigation in Dallas for five month’s, where he once played for the Cowboy’s.  After hearing of the arrest, Bears General Manager Jerry Angelo said “We are very shocked about what we heard.”  Angelo then released him from the NFL team’s roster.

He is now out on a $100,000 cash bond, but his troubles are far from over.  What a waste of talent and opportunity.  Young players look up to sports figures and this is not something they can be proud of.  Hopefully he will be convicted and given a harsh penalty to show our youth, this is the wrong route to go.

What was he thinking?  How disappointing…

11/26/11: NBA LOCKOUT IS OVER? TENTATIVE AGREEMENT REACHED.

It was reported today that NBA players and owners have reached a tentative agreement after their 149 day lockout.  Stern announced that he plans to begin the season on Christmas day, December 25th, if all works out.  It looks like basketball fans may receive a great holiday gift after all.  Sports enthusiasts “withdrawal symptoms” may be finally put to an end.  I guess the remote control and my favorite shows are now lost again….darn!

(VIDEO) 11/14/11: NBA UNION REJECTS DEAL, IS THE SEASON OVER?

It was just announced that the union executive director, Billy Hunter, confirmed that the National
Basketball Players Association has rejected the NBA’s proposal.  Now talks of taking it to the court systems are also in the works.  This is getting to be a huge mess!

Will this end the season?  Well, if it’s up to the NBA players…not so fast.  Rumors are swirling that they are looking to dump the union.  That is not yet confirmed, but one things for sure, players are not happy about the situation.  They have multi-million dollar homes and grand life styles to maintain and need a paycheck like everyone else.

What do you think?  Should they cave in and accept the terms….or push for what they want?  If the season is over before it starts, there will be a lot of basketball withdrawal symptoms going around soon!

(RECAP VIDEO) 10/26/11: WORLD SERIES CANCELED TONIGHT, MOVES TO THURSDAY DUE TO WEATHER, GAME 6

The weather has caused the World Series game 6 to be moved to Thursday at 7:05pm.  Looks like the Texas Rangers and Cardinals will have to wait to duke it out.

If the game goes to round 7, it will be played Friday night in St. Louis.  Darn…where was this bad weather when they canceled The X Factor due to baseball?  That would have been a better night for postponing a game!

Maybe they will replace the World Series with The X Factor?  And canceled for rain…seriously?  The Chicago Bears would play during a storm…blizzard…freezing temps…or tornado!  Football is better:).

UPDATE 10/26/11 @9PM – And it didn’t even rain…need I say more?
