SOUTHERN TORNADOES AFTERMATH THREE FOUND ALIVE, CNN SAYS NOT TRUE?

With all the tragic stories of devastation in so many southern states, during the past week, it was comforting to finally hear a bit of good news. Early reports claimed a rescue had occurred in a small town outside of Birmingham, Alabama.  Mark Kelly, a spokesman for Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency even allegedly told Reuters that, “Three people had been trapped in a basement in Concord, Alabama, and were rescued at 3:15 p.m. today”.

Unfortunately, soon after this report, CNN confirmed that the story was false.  A person on the ground was interviewed, and said he also thought it was true, but dug deeper to find it was a “miscommunication”.

The tornadoes in the Southern states have claimed the lives of over 300 people and is said to be the second largest round of tornadoes in U.S. history.  Many residents have provided news stations with devastating stories, which made this amazing that a miracle was being reported.  Too bad it was not true, I am sure they need something to boost their spirits.

Let’s hope they can rebuild and recover from this tragedy.

2011 VIDEO: SOUTHERN TORNADOES, SECOND DEADLIEST IN U.S. HISTORY

News reports suggest the recent tornadoes in Southern states, have now caused the deaths toll to rise to 340 victims.  This makes it the second-deadliest tornado outbreak in U.S. history. Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Virginia, Kentucky and Georgia were completely devastated by the destruction within a 24-hour period.

There are so many news reports of tragic stories, in areas with small communities.  The very tiny town of Hacklenburg, Alabama was hit hard with over 29 deaths and many more missing.  Most of their businesses were completely demolished, including a grocery store, pharmacy, three schools, a doctor’s office, the police station, gas station, and the Wrangler plant which employed 5000 people.

To see the wrath of the tornado is amazing, it looks like the aftermath of a war.  It is tragic and at first glance, is hard to see how they will ever rebuild.  But let’s hope they pull together to put their town and lives back together.  It is a sad thing to watch.

Many organizations have set up ways to donate, so hopefully a lot of support will be given to help during this unbelievable act of nature.

Incredible video above was posted on YouTube, and shows images of the complete devastation.

(VIDEO) TORNADOES SET RECORD, 292 REPORTED IN APRIL AND 193 DEAD

This Wednesday a record number of tornadoes hit the South and Southeast, devastating many cities and causing a high number of deaths. Although it is very early in the tornado season, approximately 137 were reported yesterday along with 193 deaths. The rare tornadoes included incredible mile-wide twisters, which caused a path of damage.  Trees were uprooted, buildings were flattened, cars and trucks were tossed like toys. Fears were heightened, especially in many cities not typically used to having tornadoes.

The month of April has now seen 292 tornadoes which is a record high according to many news outlets. The average number of tornadoes is typically 163 for the month.  But what makes this more incredible is that there have been over 5,400 severe weather reports so far in April. On average, only about 3,300 severe weather reports are historically tallied in an entire April nationwide. This has caused many states to be declared a state of emergency.

This adds to the unusually high amount of natural disasters occurring across the globe, which make many question if this is the lead into 2012, which is a year said to see major changes on earth.

It is sad to hear about the loss of life, and tragic stories of so many families affected by this disaster.
