Miami resident Celina Aaron was shocked when she opened her cell phone bill. In just a month’s time, her total amount due climbed to $200,000!
Turns out Celina’s deaf brother took his phone to Canada for two weeks and picked up huge data roaming charges. She had given him a phone using her plan, but it was only for text messages and email.
The woman was furious to find out that the phone company did not warn her in advance, that he was racking up these enormous charges. But when she complained, T-Mobile agreed to drop it down to $2500 and is giving her six months to pay it back. Seriously, that is still a crazy high bill but it’s better than $200k!
Lesson learned…definitely don’t take your cell phone to Canada!
