Most people heading to the dentist are dreading it (including me!). This is second to getting your finger nails pulled off one-by one (ok not that dramatic). However, patients of Oklahoma dentist Wayne Scott Harrington, have serious reason to be concerned.
It was found that the dentist of over 30-years allegedly used rusty old instruments when treating patients along with 10-year old expired meds. His side kicks were also found to be unlicensed but working as his assistants and treating patients. What makes it worse is that he did not change needles and instruments between patients…YUCK! Now there’s a chance that some of his 7000 patients may be infected with HIV or hepatitis C.
The most shocking part of this incredible story is that investigators found two different sets of instruments. Apparently the dentist separated them; one set for patients known to have infectious diseases and the other set for patients who were not believed to have infectious diseases. How insane!
These unsuspecting clients received a dreaded letter from Tulsa Health Department on Friday outlining the issue. The state dental board is offering free testing to his patients, but that is obviously no comfort.
It has been reported, that while he will likely be charged with a criminal act, it may be hard to prove. Great…now this jerk has given me ONE MORE REASON TO HATE GOING TO THE DENTIST!
