The new Rivers Casino, located in Des Plaines, plans to open for business this summer. The company held a job fair at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, on Friday. Rivers Casino advertised “1000 jobs available”, which seemed to work, since the final count of attendees was approximately 10,000. Many stood in line for hours for a chance to land a job, and reports suggest it included many who are already employed. Most responded, although they are gainfully employed, searching for better opportunities is always worth a try.
While the unemployment rate has declined in Illinois during the past few months, it is still well over 8% according to recent reports. This makes the ability to secure a job, a huge opportunity for many. Casino’s add millions of dollars to the area and although some local residents protested their plan, it does offer jobs to those who have lost hope. Rivers Casino will continue taking applications online, for those who missed the job fair.
