VIDEO 9/13/11: “AMERICA’S GOT TALENT” FINALS; WHO WILL WIN?

America’s Got Talent aired the finals tonight with a host of incredibly talented contestants.  It was down to the final four including; Poplyfe, Silhouettes, Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr., and Team ILuminate.  This was definitely the best line-up of contestants since the shows inception, and most gave stand-out performances.

This will be a close race for three of them, unfortunately, my early favorite Poplyfe may have fallen short tonight.  It is truly anyones race, but my favorite performances of the evening were ILuminate and Silhouettes.  Their originality and perfection would do exceptionally well in Vegas and I see them going all the way.  They rocked it tonight!

In the end, the performers provided a season filled of excitement and a offered a big improvement over past contestants.  My only confusion is why a show called America’s Got Talent, has no American judge?  It seems as though the British continue to take over our airwaves and isn’t Howie Mandel Canadian?  I guess America’s Got Talent, just not with judges…not that I don’t love Sharon Osbourne.

UPDATE 9/14/11: Series finale, and the winner is…YOU WILL NEVER GUESS!

6/21/11 Video: ‘THE VOICE’ SEMI-FINALS, JAVIER COLON MAKES THE SHOW

The new singing competion show, ‘The Voice’ featuring Christina Auguilera has been saved by only one competitor.  Although ‘Frenchie’ is a powerful singer and Vicci Martinez has a great voice, in my opinion, the best singer featured is Javier Colon.  He definitely makes the show and without him I’m not sure how great it would be to watch.  His incredible voice has allowed him to reach the semi-finals and it would be a huge surprise if he did not go all the way.

While it is probably NBC’s answer to American Idol, the show lacks something. I can’t put my finger on what’s missing, but it just does not capture my attention, nor excite me as American Idol has done for so many years.  But at least they have Javier to save the day and grab viewer’s that enjoy a truly great voice.

The Voice is based on the highly rated show “The Voice of Holland”.  But unlike American Idol, singers “audition” on a stage while the judges are seated with their backs to them, allowing them to be selected based solely on their vocal abilities.  The judges then chose their favorite singers to coach and break them into teams.  They go on to compete against one another until the end, when a top winner is selected.

What do you think?  What’s your favorite show, The Voice or American Idol?

(6/8/11 Dance Video) MEREDITH VIEIRA LEAVES “TODAY” SHOW, EMPLOYER’S SHOULD TAKE NOTICE

MEREDITH VIEIRA signed off today for the last time, as co-host of the “Today” show on NBC.  She spent the past five years on the network and was well liked by many.

If you were not fortunate enough to see her final farewell show, you missed a great ride.  After the show aired a very well produced video of her top segments, and Carol King serenade, they did something very touching.  They ran her off the set with her co-worker’s leading the way hand-in-hand, directly into a flash mob dance outside the studio.  It is something you rarely see these days when someone leaves a job, so it was a truly great experience.  She was moved to tears, which made it extra special.

In the of era of continuous layoffs and very little employer loyalty, it was nice to see a person leave with a warm farewell.  Wouldn’t it be great to have your co-worker’s and employer do something so special upon your departure?   In the “real world” it typically comes with a pink slip and an escort out the door.

Congrats to Meredith on her new venture, and a big shout-out to the producer’s who actually cared enough about an employee to give them an unforgettable farewell party.  Many employer’s should take note and do the same.  A cheap watch or pink slip is just not enough.

Ann Curry will replace Meredith as host of the “Today”.  She will have big shoes to fill, but probably can hold her own!

CELEBRITY APPRENTICE RENEWED, TRUMP PASSES ON PRESIDENCY-HOW IRONIC

CELEBRITY APPRENTICE was renewed for yet another season.  It is bit ironic that Donald Trump then announced he will not run as a Presidential candidate.  Was this all just a push to put him in the spotlight,  ensuring the Apprentice ratings increased, to guarantee the shows renewal?

Well let’s face it, Trump probably knew he was not equipped to be the President of the United States, but it did seem to help the shows ratings.  During his “teaser” run, he was on all the networks and interviewed multiple times.  We all know he is the master of marketing himself and it looks like it worked, free publicity and all.  Trump likes to win, and it seems he did just that once again.

Would you have voted Trump for President?
