[2014 VIDEO] ARE SINGING COMPETITION SHOWS ON THE WAY OUT? AMERICAN IDOL & THE VOICE FIGHT TO STICK AROUND

Sorry, it’s been a while since my last blog post.  My real estate world has been so busy that it gives me little time to write.  But today I reflected back on a video I posted on The X Factor long before its demise.  It’s funny to see that all predictions came true.  If only Simon Cowell would have listened to my suggestions, his show may have had the success and longevity of American Idol.  Such a waste of a well produced show, I was sorry to see it canceled in the U.S.

This year the singing competition shows were all a complete bore.  I cringed while watching American Idol and The Voice.  They were both lacking their original magic…so I could only bear watching a few episodes.  The judges were not fresh and the contestants did not have the excitement of past singers.  Was it just me?  Or were you thinking the same thing?

Even the return of Jennifer Lopez to American Idol was clearly disappointing.  While she will forever be my favorite judge on any singing competition show, the chemistry was just not there.  Did she even like Harry Connick, Jr?  JLo even looked slightly bored on several of the shows.  It may have just been a quick payday for her or something to boost her new CD.  But she should have just had a V8:)

Are singing competition shows on the way out?  Probably so.  It will be interesting to see just how long American Idol and The Voice will stick around.  Maybe we are burning out on these type of shows and need something fresh to watch.  Reality TV appears to be strong and not going anywhere anytime soon.  But they may need to find better ways to promote singers in a new light.  Will America’s Got Talent do it this season?  We shall see…

{VIDEO} WHO WON THE X FACTOR USA 2013? FINALE RECAP….AND THE WINNER IS?

Well, as far as I know all bets were on the right contestant to win The X Factor.  And it was good to see America got it right!  The final three were down to Alex & Sierra, Jeff Gutt and Chicago’s very own Carlito Olivero.  While they all fought hard until the end, the most unique and talented singers pulled ahead when it counted most.

First let’s begin with the production and entertainment value of the finale.  In my opinion it was more like a holiday concert which is really not my thing.  Although One Direction, the biggest group in the World performed, and fan favorite Pit Bull belted out his hit song “Timber“, it was not enough to outshine this years The Voice” season finale.

It was definitely not my favorite ending of a singing competition show, but the announcement of deserving winner made it all good.  Yes, if you guessed it was Alex & Sierra running away with the $1M recording contract…you are correct!  Their performance of “Say Something” certainly sealed the deal.  I am truly happy for them and know they will have a very long career in the music industry…well, if they can just keep their relationship in check.  This win will absolutely change the dynamics of their lives.

Congrats to the three finalist; they ALL gave 100% until the end and should do well long after The X Factor!

On another note, it was sad to see the very talented Jeff Gutt leave without a win, but he will no longer need to worry.  This also goes for the fighter Carlito Olivero, Chicago and his parents are proud and he will now have the ability to help support them!

{VIDEO} X FACTOR USA 2013; CHICAGO’S CARLITO OLIVERO FIGHTS HARD UNTIL THE END

Chicago’s very own, Carlito Olivero, made it all the way to the finals on The X Factor.  That alone was a triumph for this young man, who fought hard and gave his all, even through the many challenges thrown his way.  Some doubted him…but he kept pushing. His passion and endurance is an inspiration to the youth around the globe.

It was exciting to hear his name called as one of the top three finalists, especially after he fell to the bottom two multiple times.  This is a perfect example of how you can come from poverty and still make something of yourself with hard work and perseverance. How can you not LOVE a fighter?

The judges may have given him harsh critiques along the way, but he took note and made adjustments.  Carlito was hungry for a win and obviously wanted it bad.  There was no stopping him, which even earned him the respect of the sometimes grumpy Simon Cowell.

While Carlito was up against major competition; Alex & Sierra and Jeff Gutt, getting this far is already a win for this Chicago native.  He will always have a special place in the hearts of many and especially those in the Windy City.  Trust me, the fans are rooting for him and want to see him succeed long after this show.

Go Carlito!  Wishing you all the success you deserve…win or lose on The X Factor, you are already a WINNER to us all.

[VIDEO] SIMON COWELL CONFIRMS BABY RUMOR…I’M THE DADDY & PROUD!

Simon Cowell finally broke his silence about the love triangle “baby daddy” rumors.  During this week’s London World premiere of the “One Direction” This Is Us” new film, the famous Brit told the BBC; “I’m proud to be a dad.  It’s something I hadn’t thought of before, but now I know I feel good about it.”

The shocking tale of him sleeping with his good friends wife, Lauren Silverman, caused a stir and unfortunately a divorce.  When her husband, Andrew Silverman, heard the shocking news he quickly left her and filed the dreaded papers.  After 10 years of marriage, his wife leaves with another mans baby AND about $2 million bucks.  Seems like she is the BIG winner in this deal.

Well, at least Simon was a gentleman and held his tongue until the furry of waves calmed.  He allegedly kept his silence to allow time for the divorce to become final.

Lauren sure knows how to pick rich guys…and she definitely upgraded by getting pregnant by a BILLIONAIRE:).  It was once rumored that Simon did not want kids, but he seems to be all smiles now.

The most surprising part about the story….is that it happened with his mistress, not the dozens of model types he has previously been linked to in the past!  Can you say….child support payday?  Maybe his luck ran out and was used up with all of his successful business ventures.

This should have a very interesting ending.  Let’s just hope it’s NOT a boy…we know his HUGE ego will force him to name the baby Simon!

Looks like The X Factor just found a way to see huge ratings…do you think he timed this out perfectly? The show premieres September 11th….wow!

2013: AMERICA HATES NICKI MINAJ ON AMERICAN IDOL….WILL OUR VOTES COUNT?

The verdict is out…99% of all American’s hate Nicki Minaj on American Idol.  Well, this is not truly based on scientific research but close, and “hate’ my be a strong word.  Let’s be clear, according to the early ratings she may still has some fans rooting for her.  The producer’s of American Idol probably selected her due to her huge success as a recording artist, but they may want to reconsider their decision.

Based on tweets, Facebook comments, family and friends, most feel she sucks as a judge.  Her high-pitched voice and ridiculous outfits, combined with her irritating demeanor is a bad mix.  We all certainly miss the classy, beautiful and well-spoken Jennifer Lopez right about now.

They may want to consider doing a Simon Cowell move, by revamping the judges quickly or they may find themselves on their way out.  It is insane that with all the money they pay these judges, they couldn’t find a better panel.

Let’s face it, Randy Jackson should have been booted long ago.  Keith Urban is cute and seems sweet, but lacks personality.  Mariah Carey is better than expected and would be my only choice to keep.

Apparently Nicki Minaj was told she was the lead, because she hogs all the talk time.  Is she now the Producer?   Heck no…so why not sit back and let the other’s join in on the conversation.  I truly miss Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Jennifer Lopez and even Steven Tyler.  At least they had charisma and were great judges.

Wonder if Idol is paying attention to fan feedback….will our votes count?  What do you think?  Chime in and remember to take the poll.  MAYBE THE PRODUCER’S WILL TAKE NOTE.  Is it just me….or does Nicki need to go?  Is it the Nicki show…http://www.votefortheworst.com/.

Don’t forget to vote on above poll and post your comments.  If you hate Nicki on Idol please share this blog…post it on Facebook, Tweet it and send to all.  Maybe the producer’s will hear us!

DOES NICKI MINAJ NEED TO GO?  SO FAR….THE INITIAL POLL RESULTS SHOW YOUR FEEDBACK…CLOSE TO THE 99%!

Answer Votes Percent
YES 179 93%
NO 12 6%
STILL ON THE FENCE 1 1%

1/16/13: AMERICAN IDOL RECAP; NEW JUDGES NEED MORE CHEMISTRY; TONIGHT’S STANDOUTS

The new season of American Idol aired tonight.  Millions tuned in to see if the new judges would have chemistry and if there would be a potential cat fight.  The cast now includes Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, and Keith Urban.  But did they gel?

Well, the first portion of the show seemed to drag on with a “Love Fest” between Nicki and Mariah.  It seemed as though they were forcing them to appear amicable.  In my opinion, it went on a bit longer then it should have and became annoying.  Let’s just focus on the contestants already!

The overall chemistry was lackluster and really made me miss Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez. They clearly had more personality, were more polished, and had an immediate connection.  It was hard replacing the special bond between Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul, but they seemed to step up to the plate on day one.

Unfortunately, it may take more time for this new group of judges.  While they called Randy Jackson “the anchor” at one point, their ship sinks if they count on him.  Obviously he rode the wave with their need for a familiar face, because without Paula and Simon is “flavor” is tasteless.

Keith is easy on the eyes, but needs to have a bit more flair.  However, country fans are surely tuning in to see this hit maker and we know how loyal they are.  It was smart to bring him into the mix, but hoping he can loosen up along the way.

It may take a few shows for them to grow on many of us, but let’s hope fans will stick it out. But if tonight is a reflection of the entire season, we all may be disappointed.  Even Ryan Seacrest seemed a bit bored and unlike his usual self.  Hope he does not leave, or the ship will sink.

Overall they still were 100% better than the judging panel on The X Factor…so they should be able to pull it together.  But it better be before Nicki and Mariah knock each other out.

On another note, the singer who went to Mariah camp,Teena Torres, was a clear standout.  Also loved Christina Isabelle and Ashlee Feliciano who should also go far in the competition.  And if only NIcki would keep the British accent going, it sounded MUCH better than her usual whiny voice.  Special shout out for cancer survivor Evan Ruggiero he was actually good, so wish they would have sent him to Hollywood.
