American Idol featured some of the greatest Motown hits tonight. It’s funny that they want them to sing more current songs, but then give them old songs to sing. But let’s face it, many of the old Motwown songs were hits and cannot be compared to the new music currently out there. The singers of that generation had soul and the lyrics had meaning.
Thia Magia tackled ‘Heatwave’ and did a good job, finally lighting up a bit. She typically looks like she just woke up from a nap. Jacob Lusk rocked the classic ‘You’re All I Need to Get By’ and he is still at the top of my favorites list.
What do you think? Should they stick with new music or keep with the oldies? My vote is for Motown.
