While Chicagoan’s complain about the cold and snow this time of year, we may want to count our blessings.  Because a small town in Alaska has seen 24 straight days of snow and is buried in 20 feet of the white stuff.

Cordova, Alaska has 2200 hundred residents, who are now probably wishing they headed to Florida for the winter.  The snow began falling on December 17, 2011 and shows no sign of slowing down.  Lucky for them, the National Guard arrived to help with the clean-up!

A local resident even began her own snow update video channel on Youtube.  It is so deep, all they can do is hope for sunshine and a miracle.  Can you imagine the flooding when it thaws? 

Makes Chicago feel like a tropical island right about now!

2011: KOBE BRYANT GETTING A DIVORCE; VANESSA TO RECEIVE $75 MILLION AND BEAUTY MEANS NOTHING

NBA super star KOBE BRYANT should have stayed faithful or gotten out early…because he has now made it easy for wife, Vanessa Bryant, to file for divorce and take him to the bank.  Vanessa seems to have had enough with his indiscretions and is walking away…but as a multi-millionaire. 

Apparently when they married 10 years ago, she allegedly did NOT sign a prenuptial agreement. Based on California law, if she is clear of a prenup, she will likely receive more than half of his reported net worth of $150 million.  On top of that she would be entitled to spousal and child support.  While divorce is tough on the kids, she can shop her sorrows away, for a very long time.

Kobe Bryant was the top earning player in the NBA last season, securing $24.8 million in salary alone.  This does not include his endorsement deals or his $83 million extension contract.  With this much money coming in, maybe he won’t mind sharing it with his soon to be ex-wife.  Hopefully the alleged side affairs were worth more than $75 million…they must have been diamond coated women. 

While many have questioned why he would cheat on such a beautiful wife, they forget the main ingredient.  Men do not cheat based on looks…it is always something else.  Cheating spouses have also reportedly side-stepped on some of the most beautiful women in the world….remember Halle Berry, Eva Longoria, Jennifer Lopez, Sandra Bullock and Jennifer Aniston?  And they were rich and attractive!  Looks mean nothing to a man’s you know what.

 

2011: NEVER CHEAT ON A TATTOO ARTIST; OR YOU MAY GET CRAP

The moral to this story is to never cheat on a Tattoo artist…or you may get crap.  Dayton, Ohio, woman Rossie Brovent is suing her boyfriend Ryan Fitzgerald for allegedly putting a tattoo of crap, with flies buzzing around it, on her back.

Rossie claims that her boyfriend agreed to tattoo a scene from Narnia on her back but instead replaced it with a disgusting image.  She slapped him with a $100,000 lawsuit last week and is not happy about his decision to pay her back for an alleged affair. 
According to Ryan, he allegedly discovered that Rossie was cheating on him with his long-time buddy.  Instead of approaching her with this news, he pretended like everything was fine and went for revenge.  After getting her buzzed with alcohol, he had her sign a consent form allowing him to select a design “at the artist’s discretion.”

This squashed her plan for hitting him with an assault charge.  But since she was apparently drunk when she signed the release form, the court may take her side on this case.  This just goes to show you, it is best to stay loyal in a relationship, especially when deciding to get a tattoo on your back from your boyfriend!

 

2011: WOMAN SET ON FIRE IN BROOKLYN ELEVATOR; ISAAC CONFESSES

It is always difficult to hear about a senior being attacked, but it’s even worse when it is brutal.  This weekend New York resident, Deloris Gillespie, 73, entered her Brooklyn building elevator holding groceries, when a man did the unthinkable.  He doused her with canister filled with flammable liquid, lit a bottle with a rag and tossed it toward her as the doors closed.  The woman’s clothes went up in flames and she literally burned to death in the elevator. 

After a neighbor viewed the Surveillance he realized that the man with a canister sprayer, white gloves and a dust mask, was the woman’s old live-in handy man.

Jerome Isaac walked into a police station later that night and confessed to the unbelievable crime.  He told police that he was angry that she had not paid him the $2000 owed for work he previously completed, so he set her on fire.  Obviously, he had mental issues….this is sick.

What is truly tragic is that neighbors called to report the smell of smoke, but had no idea someone was burning alive in the elevator.

 

12/18/11: NORTH KOREAN LEADER KIM JONG II DIES AT 69; WILL HIS SON TAKE OVER?

On Saturday December 17, 2011, North Korean leader Kim Jong Il died at the age of 69.  He was in power since 1994 when his father Kim Il Song, who founded the communist nation, died at 82-years-old. 

The stock market reportedly dropped when news of his death surfaced, which is bad news for this already struggling country.  Korean networks announced that he died while riding on a passenger train.  

He was not liked by South Korea or the United States so probably no love lost.  However, his son Kim Jong-un, will likely be appointed their leader and continue the family dynasty.  Great…someone else to run them further into the ground.  About 2 million people have already allegedly died of starvation while Kim Jong II used money to build nuclear weapons.

 

2011: CHIMP ON THE LOOSE AT DALLAS ZOO

Networks are reporting that a Chimpanzee is on the loose at the Dallas Zoo. The Chimp somehow escaped and is roaming around in a building.  A special tranquilizer team has been called to help.

This is a big difference from the recent release of 56 animals by a man in Ohio.  That was a much more dangerous situation, although no-one was hurt.

I guess Chimps are really smart…not surprising he knew how to get out of the cage!

 

Breaking News: PRESIDENT OBAMA SPEAKS LIVE AT FT. CAMPBELL, MAY 6, 2011

PRESIDENT OBAMA is set to speak live, after Vice President Biden speaks in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky.  The VP is currently talking to the troops and is opening for the President on live TV. The speech is in progress on local networks.

Update: President Obama rallied the troops in a well delivered speech (as usual).  He addressed the unfortunate events of 911 and praised the troops for their hard work.

CHICAGO CUBS OFFER CHEAP BEER TO FANS; ATTENDANCE DOWN 16%

CHICAGO Cubs baseball fans apparently are not attending games as much this year.  Not sure if it is the economy, the stiff price of tickets, or the loss of interest.  But news reports suggest ticket sales to Cubs games are down 16% this year. 

Cubs management is fighting to get fans back by offering incentives on beer.  The typical price of beer at a game sells for $8 a glass, but in an effort increase attendance, reports suggest it will soon sell for only $3 a glass. The special will only be offered on select days, to fans with bleacher seating.  And in May they are sweetening the deal for bleacher seat guests, by selling them hotdogs for $1 and offering a free T-shirt.   Well, I’m not sure if this is enough to attract fans back to Wrigley Field, but it may be a good start.

Although I am not a baseball fan and the cheaper beer would not entice me to attend, it may attract the true fans.  Maybe there are some who love the team, but just cannot afford the luxury of a live game in this economy.

(VIDEO) ATLANTA POLICE DINER SCUFFLE WITH WOMAN GOES VIRAL

Another video exposing a police officer hitting a woman has been posted on YouTube, and has gone viral with over 500,000 views. Sunday morning at 4am, a police officer in Atlanta was caught on tape in a scuffle with a woman during a fight.  The video shows the officer hitting a woman in the face, at the IHop pancake restaurant, located in Buckhead.

The Atlanta Police Department began investigating the incident, after video footage surfaced.  The officer is said to be on “desk duty” during the investigation.

In viewing the video it shows the woman continuing to fight when another officer steps in to help.  Many are now in heated discussions wondering if this was a man being hit, would anyone care the officer used force, considering the circumstances.

SOUTHERN TORNADOES AFTERMATH THREE FOUND ALIVE, CNN SAYS NOT TRUE?

With all the tragic stories of devastation in so many southern states, during the past week, it was comforting to finally hear a bit of good news. Early reports claimed a rescue had occurred in a small town outside of Birmingham, Alabama.  Mark Kelly, a spokesman for Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency even allegedly told Reuters that, “Three people had been trapped in a basement in Concord, Alabama, and were rescued at 3:15 p.m. today”.

Unfortunately, soon after this report, CNN confirmed that the story was false.  A person on the ground was interviewed, and said he also thought it was true, but dug deeper to find it was a “miscommunication”.

The tornadoes in the Southern states have claimed the lives of over 300 people and is said to be the second largest round of tornadoes in U.S. history.  Many residents have provided news stations with devastating stories, which made this amazing that a miracle was being reported.  Too bad it was not true, I am sure they need something to boost their spirits.

Let’s hope they can rebuild and recover from this tragedy.
