12/18/11: NORTH KOREAN LEADER KIM JONG II DIES AT 69; WILL HIS SON TAKE OVER?

On Saturday December 17, 2011, North Korean leader Kim Jong Il died at the age of 69.  He was in power since 1994 when his father Kim Il Song, who founded the communist nation, died at 82-years-old.

The stock market reportedly dropped when news of his death surfaced, which is bad news for this already struggling country.  Korean networks announced that he died while riding on a passenger train.

He was not liked by South Korea or the United States so probably no love lost.  However, his son Kim Jong-un, will likely be appointed their leader and continue the family dynasty.  Great…someone else to run them further into the ground.  About 2 million people have already allegedly died of starvation while Kim Jong II used money to build nuclear weapons.

12/18/11: WHO WON SURVIVOR SOUTH PACIFIC? NOT COACH OR OZZY

WHO GOT CUT ON THE X FACTOR?

It’s amazing to see that tv show ‘Survivor’ still has a huge following and it does not seem to be coming to an end anytime soon.  It is very addictive, exciting, and unpredictable.  This season ended with a huge upset, leaving fans in disbelief and likely disappointed.

Ozzy was clearly the favorite to win and after beating eight contestants on redemption island, everyone expected him to make the final three (including me).  However, med student Sophie Clarke not only beat him during the last immunity challenge, she won the $1 million dollar prize on “Survivor South Pacific.”

Making this even more devastating was the 22-year-old medical student from Willsboro, N.Y., not only beat Ozzy, she also slayed the Dragon Slayer Benjamin “Coach” Wade of Susanville, Calif.  This was really a shock to me, seeing it was his third trip to Survivor, I really thought that would mean something to the jury.

Rounding off the top three was high school baseball coach Albert Destrade of Plantation, Fla.  Talk about being at the right place at the right time.  Of course did not even get one vote!

It still is not clear how many viewers are happy about her win, although she won three challenges and played a hard game.  Even though “Coach” did use religion a bit too much this season, he would have been my pick.  Albert on the other hand, was just lucky to make it that far because he really did not contribute anything nor deserve to win.

Well, at least Ozzy won the $100,000 viewer’s choice award.  He worked hard for every bit of it and deserved to win something for all his efforts.

Was it me or did Jeff Probst look like he was glowing…oh that’s right he just had a secret wedding:).  Good to see him so happy, but give him a few years.  Just kidding!
